The Volante Vision is a concept vehicle exploring luxury Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) fixed-wing aircraft spearheaded by Aston Martin.
The vehicle will employ four tilting propellers up front in a double stack arrangement and two large vertical stacked propellers aft of the passenger cabin for vertical lift. The Volante has fixed wings and twin rudders for cruise mode. The motors will be hybrid-electric with emphasis on a low carbon footprint capable of cruising speeds of 460 km/h. The Volante Vision will be autonomously flown with stepped levels of pilot interaction depending on experience. It is designed to for three passengers (one forward and two rear) and the interior will have luxury trappings.
It is designed for luxury personal air or urban mobility and inter-city travel.
Aston Martin has developed partnerships with Cranfield University, Cranfield Aerospace Solutions, and the Rolls-Royce company.
The Volonti Vision is expected to undergo testing in 2019 with commercial service available in 2023.
