Founded on October 25, 1952, Beihang University is located in Beijing, China and the university specializes in engineering, technology and the hard sciences. The public university was previously known as the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and was abbreviated as BUAA. As of the early 2020s, the university has 59 undergraduate programs, 38 master's degree programs, 21 doctorate programs and 17 postdoctoral researcher programs. The university has 27 schools covering ten major disciplines.

Blue Goose passenger roadable eVTOL sub-scale technology demonstrator aircraft
The Blue Goose is passenger remote controlled roadable eVTOL sub-scale technology demonstrator aircraft developed by a team from Beihang University. If the aircraft was made into a full scale aircraft, the aircraft would hold two people, one pilot and one passenger and their luggage. The aircraft was showcased at the 3rd e-flight Forum held in Shijiazhuang, China on October 16-17, 2019.

The aircraft has four propellers, four electric motors and is powered by batteries. There are two front VTOL-only propellers in the nose of the aircraft. The aircraft has one main blended U-wing and at the top rear of the wing are two propellers mounted to the horizontal stabilizer. The horizontal stabilizer can rotate to the vertical allowing the rear propellers to be used for VTOL flight. The aircraft has a canopy over the cockpit, the fuselage is made from carbon fiber composite material and the aircraft has fixed tricycle wheeled landing gear. The aircraft has been made for road travel.

The safety features of the aircraft are redundant systems and in the event of an emergency and the VTOL propellers are not capable of being used, the aircraft can land conventionally like an airplane on a runway or road.
