The information provided here is as accurate as possible; however, eVTOL information from China is sometimes sparse, incomplete or conflicting. China is promoting what they call the "low-altitude economy"—a new push for general aviation—which includes both crewed and uncrewed passenger and air cargo eVTOL aircraft.

Founded in 2014 by Cai Xiaodong in Wuhan City, Hubei, China, E-HAWK Tech Group is a high-tech firm in the business of research and development, designing and the manufacturing of artificial intelligent (AI) piloted medium to large electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) and hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft for advanced air mobility (AAM). The company has stated they own over 80 patents and technical achievements.

Xiaodong was inspired by the movie Avatar to design and manufacture passenger eVTOL aircraft allowing people the move freely through dense forests, within cities and between two cities.

Eagle Air Taxi passenger hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft (prototype)
The Eagle Air Taxi is an autonomous four passenger eVTOL aircraft. The aircraft has large panoramic wrap around windows allowing forward, left, right and top visibility for spectacular views for the passengers. The company had its first successful flight test with the prototype in July 2025. The company prototypes have made over 100 successful test flights as of February 2026. A two person aircraft is planned in 2026.

The cruise speed of the aircraft is 108 km/h (67 mph), has a flight range of 150 km (93 m) and has a flight time up to 45 minutes. The aircraft has eight electric ducted fans (EDFs), eight electric motors and is powered by a hybrid-electric power source. The empty weight of the aircraft is 750 kg (1,654 lb), has a maximum payload weight of 450 kg (992 lb) and has a maximum takeoff weight of 1,200 kg (2,646 lb). The fuselage is made from carbon fiber composite to give the aircraft a high strength to low weight ratio. The aircraft has fixed skid landing gear.

Future
The company expects their aircraft to be used for on-demand air taxi service, tourist flights, emergency rescue services, traffic surveillance, energy company inspections, forest service, high-rise firefighting, logistics and more. A two person aircraft is planned in 2026.

  • Safety features: Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP) uses multiple propellers or electric ducted fans, each powered by electric motors, to increase safety through redundancy. If one or more components fail, the remaining ones can still ensure a safe landing. There are also redundancies of critical components in the sub-systems of the aircraft providing safety through redundancy. Having multiple redundant systems on any aircraft decreases having any single point of failure. The aircraft has no moving surfaces or tilting parts when transitioning from vertical to forward flight and the reverse which increases safety by reducing complexity.
