The information provided here is as accurate as possible; however, eVTOL information from China is sometimes sparse, incomplete or conflicting. China is promoting what they call the "low-altitude economy" — a new push for general aviation — which includes both crewed and uncrewed passenger and air cargo eVTOL aircraft.
Founded in 1984, Guangdong Yuecai Investment Holdings is a company based in Guangzhou, China. The company is in the business of making passenger eVTOL aircraft. The company's eVTOL aircraft, it is focusing on safety and reliability issues such as technical redundancy, material innovation, ability to land in different environments and validation testing. The company has recently opened a new factory in Huadu, Guangdong, China.
Yutu A100 passenger eVTOL prototype aircraft
The Yutu A100 is a one passenger eVTOL prototype light aircraft. The aircraft was revealed to the public on March 26, 2025 at an event titled, "Soaring Into the Future, Leading a New Journey—eVTOL New Model Design Finalization and New Factory Inauguration in Guangzhou Huadu" in the Huadu District, Guangzhou, China.
The aircraft has a cruise speed of 72 km/h (45 mph), has a flight time of 20 minutes and has a cruise altitude under 10 meters (32.8 ft). The aircraft has eight propellers (with foldable propellers arms), eight electric motors and is powered by battery packs. The aircraft has an open cockpit with roll bars. The charging time for the batteries is about 50 minutes. The empty weight of the aircraft is 115 kg (254 lb), has a maximum payload weight of 110 kg (243 lb) and has a maximum takeoff weight of 225 kg (497 lb). The fuselage is made EPP foam exterior and has a race-grade frame. We believe the aircraft lands on the bottom of the fuselage.
The company has reported their prototype has successfully flown over 2,000 times and in various environments such as grasslands, sports fields, parking lots, driveways and coastal areas. The company expects the aircraft to be used for air tourism and possibly other air missions.
It is important to remember that all concept design aircraft specifications are estimated and can or will change as prototypes and production models are made, tested and flown with real world avionics, components and payloads.
Specifications:
- Aircraft type: Passenger eVTOL prototype aircraft
- Piloting: 1 person
- Cruise speed: 72 km/h (45 mph)
- Flight time: 20 minutes
- Cruise altitude: <10 meters (32.8 ft)
- Empty weight: 115 kg (254 lb)
- Maximum payload weight: 110 kg (243 lb)
- Maximum takeoff weight: 225 kg (497 lb)
- Propellers: 8 propellers
- Electric motors: 8 electric motors
- Power source: Batteries
- Charging time: About 50 minutes
- Fuselage: EPP foam exterior and race-grade frame
- Window: Open cockpit with roll bars
- Landing gear: Lands on the bottom of the fuselage
- Safety features: Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP) uses multiple propellers or electric ducted fans, each powered by electric motors, to increase safety through redundancy. If one or more components fail, the remaining ones can still ensure a safe landing. There are also redundancies of critical components in the sub-systems of the aircraft providing safety through redundancy. Having multiple redundant systems on any aircraft decreases having any single point of failure.
