Formed in 2022, the Shaanxi Huayu Xianxiang Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. is a new start-up company in China that is a spin-off from Northwestern Polytechnical University. The company is in the business of making electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) passenger aircraft for advanced air mobility (AAM). If anyone from the Shaanxi Huayu Xianxiang Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. would like to provide us with more information about your company and the research being accomplished, please email us here: news@evtol.news.
While little is known about the Shaanxi Huayu Xianxiang Intelligent Technology Co., they have already succeeded in flying an eVTOL subscale demonstrator at the beginning of November 2022. It is unknown if the company has named their subscale demonstrator or have named their future production model.
The Subscale Demonstrator has six tilt-propellers, canard wings, has a T-tail, has fixed tricycle wheeled landing gear and is powered by batteries. There is one tilt-propeller at the end of each wing, including tilt-propellers on the end of the T-tail's horizontal stabilizer. The ends of each wing tilt when the propellers tilt. The demonstrator has one low wing at the front of the fuselage and has one high main wing. The high main wing has a gull-wing type design.
The configuration of the aircraft increases the range of the aircraft for urban air travel while at the same time keeping the environment free of green house gasses. The production model is expected to carry four passengers. There has been no announcements when the company expects to begin serial production of their aircraft.
Specifications:
- Aircraft type: eVTOL subscale demonstrator
- Piloting: Remote
- Capacity: Unknown. (The production model is expected to carry four people.)
- Propellers: 6 propellers (There is one propeller at the end of each wing, including the horizontal stabilizer on the T-tail and the ends of the wing tilt when the propellers tilt.)
- Electric motors: 6 electric motors
- Power source: Batteries
- Fuselage: Unknown
- Wings: Canard type wings with 1 low front wing and 1 high main wing. The high main wing has a gull-wing type design to it.
- Tail: 1 T-tail
- Landing gear: Fixed tricycle wheeled landing gear. The production model is expected to have retractable tricycle wheeled landing gear.
- Safety features: Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP), provides safety through redundancy for its passengers and/or cargo. DEP means having multiple propellers (or ducted fans) and motors on the aircraft so if one or more propellers (ducted fans) or motors fail, the other working propellers (or ducted fans) and motors can safely land the aircraft. There are also redundancies in the sub-systems of the aircraft.
