The information provided here is as accurate as possible; however, eVTOL information from China is sometimes sparse, incomplete or conflicting. China is promoting what they call the "low-altitude economy"—a new push for general aviation—which includes both crewed and uncrewed passenger and air cargo eVTOL aircraft.

Founded in 2022, CoolFly is based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China and is in the business of designing and manufacturing passenger electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for advanced air mobility (AAM). Wayne Lee, CEO is quoted on the company's website, “We are not just manufacturing aircraft, we are architecting a new way of life. We aim to make personal eVTOL as ubiquitous as bicycles—affordable and accessible to everyone in the world.”

Dream Pro passenger eVTOL multicopter (production model)
The Dream Pro is a one passenger eVTOL multicopter production model aircraft. The pilot can fly the aircraft manually or use AI controlled autonomous flying. The aircraft has auto landing technology. The multicopter has an open cockpit and has roll bars above the cockpit of the aircraft. The aircraft has been made so it can fly safely in rainy or in dusty conditions.

The estimated maximum speed of the aircraft is 100 km/h (62 mph) and has a flight time of 40 minutes. The aircraft has eight propellers, eight electric motors and is powered by battery packs. The stacked propellers are on four booms of the aircraft. The maximum payload weight is 120 kg (265 lb). The booms can fold during storage or when transporting the aircraft by ground, ship or aircraft.

The fuselage is made from carbon fiber composite to give the aircraft a high strength to low weight ratio. The multicopter lands on the bottom of the aircraft's fuselage. There is also a whole aircraft emergency ballistic parachute in case of an unexpected inflight emergency.

Aircraft use
The company foresees the aircraft to be used for advanced air mobility (AAM), tourism, vacationing, outdoor activities (such fishing, hunting, boating, camping and other types of recreational activities) and for emergency medical response.

Specifications:

  • Aircraft type: Passenger eVTOL multicopter (production model)
  • Piloting: 1 pilot can fly manually or use AI controlled autonomous flying. The aircraft has auto landing technology.
  • Maximum speed: 100 km/h (62 mph)
  • Flight time: 40 minutes
  • Maximum payload weight: 120 kg (265 lb)
  • Propellers: 8 stacked propellers on four booms. Booms can retract for storage and ground or air transportation.
  • Electric motors: 8 electric motors
  • Power source: Battery packs
  • Fuselage: Carbon fiber composite
  • Cockpit: Open cockpit
  • Landing gear: Lands on the bottom of the aircraft's fuselage
  • Safety features: Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP) uses multiple propellers or electric ducted fans, each powered by electric motors, to increase safety through redundancy. If one or more components fail, the remaining ones can still ensure a safe landing. There are also redundancies of critical components in the sub-systems of the aircraft providing safety through redundancy. Having multiple redundant systems on any aircraft decreases having any single point of failure. There is also a whole aircraft emergency ballistic parachute in case of an unexpected inflight emergency. The aircraft has no moving surfaces or tilting parts when transitioning from vertical to forward flight and the reverse which increases safety by reducing complexity. The aircraft can fly with the loss of one electric motor and land safely.
