Please remember, it is known that information originating from China is sometimes sparse, incomplete or inaccurate. The information we provide here is either from company news reports or online articles. We do know that China is promoting what they call the "low-altitude economy" (in the US, it's known as advanced air mobility or AAM). China's low-altitude economy includes both crewed and uncrewed passenger and air cargo electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) and hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft.
Shangfei Aviation is in the business of designing and manufacturing passenger, air cargo and firefighting all-electric and hybrid-electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) multicopter aircraft. The company is headquartered in Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China
JX1022R passenger electric or hybrid-electric VTOL concept design multicopter aircraft
The JX1022R is an autonomous passenger all-electric or a hybrid-electric VTOL concept design multicopter aircraft. The aircraft will be able to carry up to four passengers and their luggage. The multicopter aircraft is foreseen to be used for advanced air mobility in dense urban areas.
While the cruise speed has not been revealed by the company, the all-electric model is expected to have a 30 km (19 m) range with a maximum payload weight of 600 kg (1,323 lb). The multicopter has eight stacked propellers in a X formation and has eight electric motors. The multicopter will have the option of being powered by all batteries or will have an option to be purchased with a hybrid-electric power source. The fuselage is made from carbon fiber composite to give the aircraft a high strength to low weight ratio.
The company reported the JX1022R passenger eVTOL aircraft successfully completed its maiden flight on June 16, 2023. However, as of March 2025, we can't find the company's website and no pictures can be found online of their prototype aircraft parked or of their prototype aircraft flying.
The company also plans to design and manufacture a firefighting version of the multicopter, the JX1022F model, and an air cargo version of the multicopter, the JX1022L model.
Specifications:

- Cruise speed: Unknown
- Range (all-electric): 30 km (19 m)
- Range (hybrid-electric): 160 km (99 m)
- Maximum payload weight (all-electric): 600 kg (1,323 lb)
- Maximum payload weight (hybrid-electric): 600 kg (1,323 lb)
- Propellers: 8 propellers (stacked)
- Electric motors: 8 electric motors
- Power source: Batteries or hybrid-electric
- Fuselage: Carbon fiber composite
- Windows: Large windows allowing forward, left and right visibility for spectacular views with a solid roof above the passenger compartment
- Landing gear: Fixed skid landing gear
- Safety features: Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP) uses multiple propellers or electric ducted fans, each powered by electric motors, to increase safety through redundancy. If one or more components fail, the remaining ones can still ensure a safe landing. There are also redundancies of critical components in the sub-systems of the aircraft providing safety through redundancy. Having multiple redundant systems on any aircraft decreases having any single point of failure. The aircraft has no moving surfaces or tilting parts when transitioning from vertical to forward flight and the reverse which increases safety by reducing complexity.
