The information provided here is as accurate as possible; however, eVTOL information from China is sometimes sparse, incomplete or conflicting. China is promoting what they call the "low-altitude economy" — a new push for general aviation — which includes both crewed and uncrewed passenger and air cargo eVTOL aircraft.
Founded in 2014, the SMD Shenzhen Smart Drone UAV Co. Ltd. is located in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. We are actually not sure of the exact name of their company because their company name is listed four or five different ways on their website. The company is in the business of designing and manufacturing electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) passenger aircraft for advanced air mobility (AAM). In China, they call these new aircraft as part of the low-altitude economy. It has been reported the company has several global invention patents.
V800 air cargo eVTOL production model aircraft
The V800 is a remotely piloted air cargo eVTOL production model aircraft. The aircraft has a modular design and can be assembled and disassembled in 15 minutes. The left and right side of the wing detaches, as well as the tail section of the aircraft. The front of the fuselage opens upward for air cargo to be loaded and unloaded. The maximum payload weight is 50 kg (110 lb) and the fuselage can hold up to 300 liters of air cargo.
The cruise speed of the aircraft is in the range 100-120 km/h (62-75 mph). With a full payload weight of 50 kg (110 lb), the aircraft has a flight time of 4-1/2 hours. The aircraft has five propellers, five electric motors and uses battery packs to power the aircraft. There is one pusher propeller for forward flight and has four VTOL-only propellers. The aircraft has one high main wing and has a high boom tail. The fuselage is made from carbon fiber composite to give the aircraft a high strength to low weight ratio. The aircraft has fixed skid landing gear.
According to the company website, the aircraft is for sale.

- Flight time: 4-1/2 hours with a full load
- Empty weight: 170 kg (375 lb)
- Maximum payload weight: 50 kg (110 lb)
- Maximum takeoff weight: 220 kg (485 lb)
- Propellers: 5 propellers (1 pusher propeller, 4-VTOL propellers)
- Electric motors: 5 electric motors
- Power source: Battery packs
- Fuselage: Carbon fiber composite
- Size: 8200 mm X 3650 mm X 1042 mm (26 ft, 11 in X 12 ft X 3 ft, 5 in)
- Wings: 1 main high wing
- Tail: 1 high boom tail (2 vertical stabilizers)
- Landing gear: Fixed skid landing gear
- Safety features: Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP) uses multiple propellers or electric ducted fans, each powered by electric motors, to increase safety through redundancy. If one or more components fail, the remaining ones can still ensure a safe landing. There are also redundancies of critical components in the sub-systems of the aircraft providing safety through redundancy. Having multiple redundant systems on any aircraft decreases having any single point of failure.
