The information provided here is as accurate as possible; however, eVTOL information from China is sometimes sparse, incomplete or conflicting. China is promoting what they call the "low-altitude economy" — a new push for general aviation — which includes both crewed and uncrewed passenger and air cargo eVTOL aircraft.
Founded in June 2024, BlueSky Aviation Technology Company is in the business of designing and manufacturing long-range heavy-lift air cargo electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The company is located in Jian, Shandong, China. In early 2025, the company announced it had completed tens of millions of yuan in angel rounds of financing. The angel rounds were jointly led by Lenovo Star, Haiyi Investment and Gobi Partners. Sometimes the company name is spelled Blue Sky Aviation Technology Company.
LAN long-range heavy-lift air cargo eVTOL concept design aircraft
The LAN is a long-range heavy-lift air cargo eVTOL concept design aircraft. The aircraft is piloted by remote control, autopilot, autonomous piloting or a combination of the three. The company is focusing on clean technology to power their aircraft. The payload weight of the company's first concept design aircraft is unknown.
The concept design aircraft has six tilt-propellers, six VTOL-only propellers and has 12 electric motors. The tilt-propellers are located on the front of the high main wing and the VTOL-only propellers are located on the rear of the wing. The aircraft will be powered by battery packs or a hybrid-electric power source. According to the illustration, the air cargo is loaded and unloaded from the front of the aircraft. The rear of the aircraft has a dual tail and the aircraft as fixed skid landing gear.
In early 2025, the company revealed they are in the stages of designing and manufacturing a prototype aircraft called the LX-1. The LX-1 will have a range-extended power source.
Specifications:
- Aircraft type: Long-range heavy-lift air cargo eVTOL concept design aircraft
- Piloting: Remote, autopilot or autonomous (or a combination of)
- Capacity: Air cargo
- Cruise speed: Unknown
- Propellers: 12 propellers (6 tilt-propellers, 6 VTOL-only propellers)
- Electric motors: 12 electric motors
- Power source: Battery packs or hybrid-electric
- Fuselage: Carbon fiber composite
- Wings: 1 main high wing
- Tail: Dual tail
- Landing gear: Fixed skid landing gear
- Safety features: Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP) uses multiple propellers or electric ducted fans, each powered by electric motors, to increase safety through redundancy. If one or more components fail, the remaining ones can still ensure a safe landing. There are also redundancies of critical components in the sub-systems of the aircraft providing safety through redundancy. Having multiple redundant systems on any aircraft decreases having any single point of failure.
