AERWINS Completes SPAC Merger

On Feb. 3, AERWINS Technologies announced that it completed a merger with special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Hawaii-based Pono Capital. The Japan-based AERWINS began trading under the ticker symbols AWIN and AWINW with a valuation of $600M, becoming the first eVTOL developer of Japanese origin to list on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, according to Tokyo-based Akihabara News. AERWINS is known for its XTURISMO Limited Edition hoverbike, which was developed by the company’s subsidiary, A.L.I. Technologies, and for its air mobility platform Centralized Operating System for Managing Open Sky (COSMOS). In January, AERWINS flew the XTURISMO LE over the surface of Lake Yamanaka by Mount Fuji (shown). As noted in the VFS World eVTOL Aircraft Directory (www.eVTOL.news/aircraft), the single-seat XTURISMO LE features two large propellers in tandem under the fuselage, with four smaller fans on the perimeter for stability and control.
