AirspaceX Unveils New eVTOL in Detroit
Airspace Experience Technologies, LLC (AirSpaceX), a subsidiary of Detroit Aircraft Corp., unveiled a sub-scale model of the latest version of its autonomous, electric VTOL aircraft, "MOBi-ONE," at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit on Jan. 15.
The concept, a shift from the company’s earlier “MOBi” design unveiled at the Uber Elevate Summit in April 2017, now had a long tiltwing with two pairs of three-bladed propellers above and below the wing, and single propellers toward the wingtips. A final pair of coaxial propellers in the rear fuselage provides vertical thrust and pitch control. Upon completion of engineering packages, a full-scale aircraft will be manufactured, undergo Part 27 certification, and be operated by AirSpaceX.
Founded in 2011, Detroit Aircraft Corp. has provided contract manufacturing, testing, marketing, sales, training and maintenance for a leading US defense contractor, and has built more than 70 small electric VTOL aircraft since 2013.
