ASKA Takes A5 Out for a Spin

In late May, some San Francisco Bay Area commuters caught a glance of the ASKA A5 eVTOL aircraft on area roads. The Los Altos, California-based eVTOL developer took its full-scale prototype of the four-seat, road-capable eVTOL aircraft in a series of supervised road tests. The A5, the prototype of which the company unveiled in January at the CES 2023 exposition, is said to be able to drive up to 250 miles (402 km) and be able to fit into existing parking spaces. The company is aiming to make the aircraft available for purchase in 2026 and intends to launch a ride-share service. According to ASKA, the A5 is the first drive-and-fly eVTOL aircraft to begin the type certification process with the FAA.
