Dufour Advances
Dufour Aerospace announced a number of partnerships over the past few months. The company reported in April that it had completed wind tunnel tests of a 50% scale semi-span model of the Aero2 tilt-wing drone at the GST wind tunnel in southern Germany. The company also selected Mejzlik Propellers, a carbon-fiber propeller manufacturer based in Brno, Czech Republic, as the supplier for the Aero2 (Simon Bendrey, Dufour Head of Design, shown with propeller). The company is producing a number of pre-series drones designed for the transportation of critical cargo, such as medical supplies of up to 88 lb (40 kg) in medium- to long-range distances.
On May 24, Dufour announced that Loft Dynamics will develop a simulator for Dufour’s Aero3, its eight-passenger, tilt-wing, hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft concept targeted towards the medevac and transport markets. The two Swiss companies expect the simulator, to be completed in 2025, will help train pilots on the aircraft and demonstrate the usefulness of Loft’s 3D training environment. The news marks the first foray into the eVTOL aircraft domain for Loft Dynamics (formerly VRM Switzerland), a pioneering helicopter virtual reality motion simulator company. “Our 360-degree, 3D view, as well as highly detailed terrain and cityscape models and realistic ground effects, make our technology transferrable and incredibly valuable to eVTOLs,” said Loft Founder and CEO Fabi Riesen in a statement.
