Eviation Nears First Flight Amid Turmoil

Arlington, Washington-based eCTOL developer Eviation Aircraft is on the cusp of conducting the maiden flight of its nine-passenger Alice. The prototype has been undergoing low-speed trials and engine testing north of Seattle at Arlington Municipal Airport, Washington, since December. Alice is powered by two magniX Magni650 electric engines and is designed to have a range of 500 miles (815 km). Eviation, which was founded in Israel in 2015, unveiled the original Alice at the 2019 Paris Air Show; it was lost in a ground fire in January 2020. Both Eviation and magniX are owned by the Clermont Group in Singapore.

However, in early January, Roei Ganzarski resigned as CEO of magniX and chairman of Eviation. Omer Bar-Yohay, Eviation co-founder and CEO, resigned a few weeks later. Both cited disagreements with Clermont’s owner.
