Evolito to Supply Electric Motors for Airship

Propulsion developer Evolito announced on Feb. 4 that it would provide its D250 electric motor to the 656-ft (200-m) long LCA60T airship designed by Flying Whales. Each airship would be powered by 32 such Evolito motors to help transport heavy cargo in regions with limited infrastructure. France-based Flying Whales aims to test fly the airship in 2027. The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) awarded design organization approval to Evolito in December 2023 for its electric-propulsion products, clearing the company to start the type certification process (see “Evolito’s Breakthrough Axial Motors,” Vertiflite, May/June 2024).
