First Hover of Latest Dufour Aero2 Tiltwing

Dufour Aerospace on Aug. 26 announced the first hover flight of its production tiltwing VTOL drone, showcasing the advanced flight controls of its production model, the Aero2 (shown). The next phases of testing with the 6.1-m (20-ft) wingspan aircraft, dubbed “X2.3,” include transitioning from hover to forward flight. The Swiss company also renewed its partnership with Areion, the US drone company previously called Spright, by reiterating an order previously announced in 2023 for 40 Aero2 aircraft with options to buy an additional 100 aircraft.

The company has also begun flying a small test and validation platform, dubbed the AeroMini10. The flights took place at the Västervik airfield in Sweden, supported by the Västervik Drone Science Park and Savback, one of Dufour’s strategic partners. In a total of 12 automated flights, Dufour’s newly created Operations Team demonstrated the drone’s capabilities and its in-house flight control system.
