Jump Aero Reveals JA1 Pulse

On Sept. 7, Jump Aero revealed the JA1 Pulse, an eVTOL aircraft it is developing for the emergency services mission. According to the Petaluma, California-based eVTOL developer, the aircraft will be able to fly a paramedic with their equipment anywhere within a 31-mile (50-km) radius within eight minutes, reducing typical response times by half. In a Sept. 21 presentation to the VFS Transformative Vertical Flight Working Group 4, Jump Aero CEO Dr. Carl Dietrich said that this requirement was informed by data showing the crucial importance of first responders arriving to a medical emergency within eight minutes. The JA1 will feature a 330-lb (150-kg) payload capacity and a dash speed of 250 kt (463 km/h). It will be powered by eight propellers, each with an 11-kWh battery.

The unveiling of the JA1 was followed on Sept. 22 by an announcement by Electro Ventures that it placed a preorder for 10 JA1 Pulse aircraft. The Western Australian company paid a non-refundable deposit for the aircraft and signed a memorandum of understanding with Jump Aero to represent the eVTOL developer in the Asia Pacific region. “This commitment demonstrates the strength of our conviction in Jump Aero’s high-speed Pulse aircraft design,” said Joshua Portlock, founding partner of Electro Ventures (a backer of aircraft charging company Electra Aero), in a statement.
