LIFT Off for HEXA in Japan
LIFT Aircraft announced on March 16 that it conducted a series of nine demonstration flights of its HEXA eVTOL aircraft in Osaka, Japan. The Texas-based LIFT Aircraft partnered with Marubeni Corp. and GMO Internet Group on the demonstrations. The flights were part of the preparations by the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition in Osaka, at which eVTOL aircraft are expected to be among the primary attractions. The Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) approved the demonstrations after inspecting the aircraft and plans. According to LIFT, the demonstrations were the first piloted flights of an eVTOL aircraft in Japan (the EHang 216 has flown uncrewed in Japan several times since June 2021). Additional demonstrations of the HEXA were planned for Niihama and Imabari, cities on Japan’s Shikoku Island.
