MagniX and Desaer Collaborate on ATL-100H
MagniX announced on Feb. 8 that it has partnered with Brazilian firm Desaer on the development of the ATL-100H, a hybrid-electric version of the ATL-100 regional aircraft. The Everett, Washington-based company will support the development of the ATL-100H and supply the electric propulsion units for the turboprop plane. Each ATL-100H will be powered by two magni350 units, which are expected to help reduce fuel consumption by up to 40 percent depending on the mission. “The ATL-100H will enable operators to connect more remote communities via aviation, opening up greater economic opportunities across Brazil,” said Evandro Fileno, CEO of Desaer, in a statement. Desaer, which was formed in 2017, announced the development of the ATL-100 in 2020. The aircraft has a capacity of up to 19 passengers and Desaer expected to begin flying the initial turboprop version in 2023.
