Safran Teams with Aura Aero

Safran Electrical & Power, a division of the French aerospace corporation Safran, announced on April 7 that it has partnered with Aura Aero, the Toulouse-based developer of electric aircraft. Safran will supply the electric propulsion system for the Aura Aero Integral E flight demonstrator, the electric version of the aerobatic two-seat Integral training aircraft. The Integral E will feature Safran’s 100-kW ENGINeUS electric motor, as well as the GENeUSGRID distribution and protection system. The first flight of the Integral E is planned for 2022, with deliveries expected the following year. Safran will also work with Aura Aero to develop electrical architecture studies for the Auro Aero ERA, a planned 19-seat electric regional commercial aircraft. The two companies will work on a “high direct-voltage propulsive architecture” for the ERA, as well as study the electric architecture used to power the aircraft’s other systems. The first fight is expected in 2024, with commercial services planned for 2027.
