Textron eAviation Makes Moves
On May 30, Textron eAviation, a Textron Inc. company, based in Wichita, Kansas, announced that it had connected the two halves of the fuselage of the Nexus (shown), the company’s full-scale eVTOL aircraft demonstrator. “It is rewarding to see the vehicle begin to take shape, and achieving fuselage assembly on the demonstrator is a major step in the aircraft’s development,” said Textron eAviation President and CEO Kriya Shortt in a statement. The demonstrator is expected to make its maiden flight in 2025.
Meanwhile, on May 15, Textron eAviation announced that it had acquired Amazilla Aerospace GmbH, a Munich-based supplier of digital flight control, flight guidance and vehicle managements systems. Amazilla’s roughly 30 employees will join Textron eAviation and work on the Pipistrel Nuuva and Surveyor drones.
