ePlane Adds Partnerships, Aims for 2025 Flight

On March 3, India’s ePlane announced a collaboration with Dubai business aviation group Empire Aviation to plan air taxi services in the United Arab Emirates and Southeast Asia. Empire will provide ePlane with fleet management support, flight tracking and maintenance. Also in March, ePlane agreed to partner with Indian AAM group ETAC on vertiport development and pilot training. The company boosted its orderbook on Feb. 17 when it announced a memorandum of understanding (MOU) valued at $1B to deliver 788 of its e200x aircraft to the International Critical Care Air Transfer Team (ICATT) for use as air ambulances.

The Chennai-based developer received Design Organization Approval (DOA) in May 2023 for its e200x from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation and aims to have the fullscale prototype ready to test fly later this year. The company recently completed wind tunnel testing of its quarter-scale model and had its type certificate application accepted by the DGCA in January.
