Turkey Tests First eVTOL

Turkish drone company Baykar flew Turkey’s first domestically produced eVTOL, the Cezeri; unmanned tethered tests were made on Sept. 11, progressing to free flights on Sept. 14–15. The 530-lb (241-kg) prototype flew about 30 ft (10 m). The Cezeri is single-seat — though the company plans larger aircraft in the future — with two pairs of brushless DC motors and propellers in each of the four ducts. Baykar said it will be able to cruise at 55 kt (100 km/h) and fly for up to 43 nm (80 km), with an endurance of about an hour. The Cezeri is named after the great Muslim inventor and engineer of the Islamic Golden Age, Ismail al-Jazari, who lived in eastern Anatolia during the 12th century. (Sources: Baykar, Daily Sabah)
